Year 6 SATs Breakfast Café

8 May 2024

Dear Parents/Carers,

SAT testing week for Year 6 pupils across the country starts on 13th May 2024

The tests will take place as follows:

Monday 13th May – Grammar and Spelling
Tuesday 14th May – Reading
Wednesday 15th May – Arithmetic and Problem Solving 1
Thursday – Problem Solving 2

Following government guidance, we have to make sure all pupils sit the tests if they are registered for them. Therefore all pupils must be in school everyday unless seriously ill. We will contact you if your child has not arrived by 8.45am. No appointments should be booked for this week.

To help start the day positively, our annual Year 6 breakfast café will reopen for SAT week. All pupils are invited and the breakfast is free. Children will need to arrive at the front entrance between 8am – 8:20am Monday to Thursday. There will be a choice of cereal, toast, eggs, beans, waffles, pancakes, fruit and juice. The staff will act as waiters! It’s a lovely opportunity to come in and settle and see friends. There is no need to book – just turn up. Please note that this is only open to Year 6 pupils.

Attached is a copy of the presentation shared at the parent workshops.

What can I do to help?

  • Encourage your child to complete their revision/homework pages
  • If you would like to look at some past papers, these can be found on our website here.
  • Make sure that your child gets plenty of sleep so that they are able to focus during the day
  • Encourage your child to do their best – we focus on improvement and progress, not a perfect score
  • Practise some positive visualisation – remember a place and time when they were really happy and calm – can they close their eyes and picture that place?
  • Create a positive mantra or saying with your child which they could say to themselves if they are feeling stressed. We cannot completely protect pupils from stressful situations, but we can work together to build their resilience

We have been so impressed with the positive attitude and hard work our Year 6 pupils have put in this year. Thank you all for your ongoing support too.
