St Matthew’s Choir was honoured to perform at a special farewell celebration held at Luton Town Hall for long-serving Council Leader Hazel Simmons as she stepped down from her role as Leader of the Council.
Following a number of successful performances at the Town Hall in recent years — including the memorable occasion of performing in front of King Charles III — the choir was invited back once again to provide a musical contribution to the evening’s celebrations.
Performing from the Town Hall gallery high above the guests seated below in the council champer, the choir created a truly atmospheric moment. Looking down on the special guests and other dignitaries, the children resembled a group of medieval minstrels as their voices filled the building.
The choir performed beautifully and represented St Matthew’s with great confidence, professionalism and pride. Guests were full of praise for the performance, which added a special touch to an important evening in the town’s history.
We are incredibly proud of all the children involved and grateful for the opportunity to once again showcase the talent of St Matthew’s pupils at such a prestigious venue. Everyone connected to St Matthew’s Primary wishes Cllr Simmons well as she continues to serve the people of the Borough of Luton, in particular Lewsey district of Luton, where she plans to continue to serve as the ward’s councillor in the future.
