School Lunches

As we reach the end of the school year, we would like to say a heartfelt “thank you” to James Colairo-Moss and his colleagues from Miquill Catering Services for the excellent service they have provided to St Matthew’s since they took over the contract to supply our school lunches.

The new menus have been an absolute hit with both the children and the staff. The food is cooked perfectly and looks so appetising on the pass where the children are served each day. The delight on the children’s faces as they see the high quality fare is a joy to behold.

The special themed menus, such as Street Food, Barbecue and Euro2020, plus the pizza picnic made for our Year 6 pupils on their Fun Day, have been a huge success as well.

This transformation of our school catering is down to the willingness of Jackie and Yvonne and their teams in the two kitchens to try new recipes and innovative ways of presenting the dishes.

We hope you all have a restful and well-earned break and we look forward to tasting the menus that you have in store for us all in the new school year.

This new menu will make your eyes light up! I recommend the chicken burgers — in my opinion they were delicious. The BEST for me was the vegetarian noodles — they were bomb — just one taste and you would be amazed by some yummy veggies. Another fantastic lunch was … roast dinner. The roast chicken was very good and very nice. I have really enjoyed trying the food from this brand new menu and I hope you do also.

Tia (Goldfinch, Year 4)

Me and my two brothers, Ehsaaq from Kingfisher Class and Ismael from Rabbit Class all love the new school lunches.  My favourite was the vegetable noodles. It was super delicious. I also like the pizza and desserts and would be interested to learn how they are cooked so I can try to make them at home with my family.

Aleesa (Goldfinch, Year 4)

The new school lunch menu is very different from the last one: we have different varieties of food each day, retaining the amount of nutrition in each meal. Unlike before we now have more vegan-friendly options, we also have salad now with a variety of desserts such as: sticky toffee banana pudding, chocolate crunch, shortbread biscuits, sticky ginger cake and a few more. Most importantly this is a lunch that children are enjoying.
