Good Luck To the Hatters

The new Premier League season begins this evening, with Burnley playing against the reigning champions Manchester City.

But we are more interested in the Saturday 3pm match at Brighton & Hove Albion, who play host to newcomers Luton Town, who secured their place in the top flight with their penalty shoot-out victory against Coventry City at Wembley back in May.

Luton could have been founder members of the Premier League when it launched in 1992, but they were relegated to the old Division 1 at the end of the 1991-92 season. It has taken them 31 years to return to the top of the English game, having fallen out of the Football League into the Conference for five years.

Premier League football is expected to come to Kenilworth Road on Friday 1st September with the visit of West Ham United, as long as the necessary ground improvements have been made.
