Milo Passes With Flying Collars!

We are thrilled to share this exciting update on Milo, our beloved school dog, and his recent training programme. Milo’s journey as our school’s furry ambassador has been filled with wagging tails and heartwarming moments, and we are delighted to report that his training sessions have been a resounding success!

Mrs Crawford has been taking Milo to regular puppy training – Pupstars – since he first arrived as a member of the family. He was successful and has moved on to work for The Kennel Club Good Citizen Award

This week, under the expert guidance of Jenny Duckworth, from The Dog Mentor programme, Milo embarked on a comprehensive training programme tailored to meet the unique needs of our school community. The key staff who will be working with Milo when he is in school joined in to learn how to get the best out him. From basic obedience commands to specialized tasks designed to enhance his role as a therapy dog, Milo embraced each activity with enthusiasm and determination.

Throughout the training process, Jenny provided invaluable support and guidance, helping Milo to develop essential skills and behaviors that align with our school’s values and ethos. With patience, positivity, and a deep understanding of canine behavior, the training helped Milo to build confidence, improve socialization skills, and strengthen his bond with pupils and staff.

One of the highlights of Milo’s training session was the opportunity to engage with pupils in a variety of interactive activities. Milo’s gentle demeanour and playful personality endeared him to students of all ages, fostering a sense of comfort, security, and well-being within our school community. Milo was taken to Daffodil Class, in Year 2, where Jenny had made sure that the children and the class were “Milo-ready”. The children made sure the floor was clear of anything that might have been dropped  such as pencils or pieces of paper, and the children all sat with their feet under the table and their hands held still on top of the table so that Milo would not be distracted or startled by sudden movements.

We look forward to sharing more updates on Milo’s adventures and achievements in the weeks and months to come. Thank you for your continuing support and enthusiasm as we celebrate Milo’s success and the positive impact he brings to our school community.
