Year 1 to 6
All children in Years 1 to 6 return on Wednesday 3rd September.
Year R New Starters
New starters joining our Reception classes will have a phased start. Reception staff will be making home visits between Tuesday 2nd and Monday 8th September. All new starters will start Reception part-time from Tuesday 9th September before they all attend from Monday 15th September.
We expect all new Reception pupils to be wearing school uniform when they are in school.
Access points
(5) the gate in between our delivery entrance and the Greenbank Mews houses on Cobden Street.
(6) the gate at the bottom of Cobden Street on to the North Street Playground.
(7) adjacent to the Jungle Gym area on the North Street Playground is not currently in use.
Entry to classrooms is through the external classroom doors or through the doors between the Key Stage 1 and 2 buildings below the canopies past the circular courtyard with the painted picture walls. Staff will be positioned at the entry points and around the site to guide anyone who is not sure where to go.
Drop-off & Pick-up times
Dismissal at the end of the day is at the normal time of 3.20pm for Years 1 and 2 and 3.25pm for Years 3, 4, 5 and 6.
Children should be collected from the external door of their own classroom. Again, staff will be around the school site to direct parents who may not be sure where to go.
To avoid congestion in the Year 4 courtyard at the end of the day, the pick-up locations for two of the classes will be in the circular courtyard on the other side of the glass corridor. Badger Class will be dismissed from the doorway beneath the canopies, indicated on the map above with a pink star. Elm Class will be dismissed from the doorway from the glass corridor, indicated on the map above with a blue star. Bluebell and Goldfinch classes will be released from their external doors into the Year 4 courtyard.
Children in Years 5 and 6 only are permitted to leave their classes at 3.25pm unaccompanied as long as parents and carers have given their permission. A ParentMail response form will be available for this purpose from 12:00 midday on Sunday 31st August.
Year 6: Eagle and Orchid Class
Shortly before the summer holiday, a water leak occurred in two Year 6 classrooms, affecting Eagle Class and Orchid Class.
Temporary repairs were carried out in July so that the classrooms could continue to be used until the end of term.
Work has been taking place during the holiday to refurbish and redecorate the two classrooms but unfortunately, due to insurance procedures, the rooms will not be fully ready for the first few weeks of the new school year.
Consequently, Eagle Class will be based initially in our Next Steps setting. Access is by the main Next Steps entrance under the canopy opposite Kingfisher Class. Orchid Class will be based in the Common Room. Access is through the main circular courtyard via the door directly into the Common Room.
Medication drop-off
If your child needs any medication during the school day, this can be handed over to our Health Care Assistant, Mrs Patrick, who will be located in the Reception outdoor area (inside Gate 3) between 8.30 and 9.15am on Wednesday 3rd September.
School lunches
School meals continue to be ordered and paid for using the ParentMail app.
Don’t forget to top up your account in ParentMail ready for the new term.
Pupils moving into Year 3 are no longer eligible for free lunches under the Universal Infant Free School Meals funding. You can find out if you are eligible for Benefits Related Free School Meals by clicking the button below. If you are not eligible, you will need to add money to your ParentMail account to pay for meals. Meals cost £2.60 per day (£12 per week).
We can help you to find out if you are eligible for free school meals. All you need to do is provide us with the following information:
• Child’s name, date of birth & class
• Parent’s name, date of birth & National Insurance number
School uniform
Please take time to look at our school uniform page as a reminder of our expectations.
New school uniform items can be ordered from the Price & Buckland website.
We have a supply of pre-loved uniform items which are available at no cost, although items do need to be ordered — a form for this is available from our office in the main school entrance.
Don’t forget that the Level Trust charity offers free school uniform and support to all Luton families through their Uniform Exchange, located in The Mall.
Click the button below to visit their website and online catalogue of items.
