Our traditional fundraising campaign in support of the Royal British Legion POPPY APPEAL begins after the half term break on Monday 4th November.
The Royal British Legion is at the heart of a national network that supports the country’s Armed Forces community.
The Royal British Legion provides lifelong support to serving and ex-serving personnel and their families.
Every year the Royal British Legion leads the nation in commemorating and honouring those who have served and sacrificed.
As usual, here at St Matthew’s, we will be collecting money by selling Poppy Appeal items, as shown in the poster below:
Children from our Year 6 classes have been selected to visit all the classes in Years R, 1 and 2 at the start of the day to sell the official Poppy Appeal items.
They will then set up a small stall in the KS2 lunch hall to sell to pupils in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6.
The Poppy Appeal sale will continue each day until all of the items have been sold.
Our Poppy Appeal will end on Monday 11th November with a special assembly including the two-minute silence in the national Act of Remembrance.
We invite parents to come and see our special Garden of Remembrance – Flanders Field – at the front of the school on Havelock Road at drop-off and pick-up times from Monday 11th November.

Commemorating this event is truly meaningful, and I appreciate that my family will have the opportunity to be part of it.
