It is with a sense of profound sadness and loss that we learnt on Thursday of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. She led a life of steadfast duty, was an inspiration across the world and devoted her life to the service of others.
We held assemblies on Friday to communicate the news and explain the events that will happen constitutionally for the next ten days. The children were given an opportunity to ask questions or discuss how they were feeling. In class, they spent time talking about her reign, read news articles and watched news reports.
As a school, we are planning to respond to this sad and momentous occasion in several ways and will communicate this to you in the coming days.
One thing we would like to do is offer a Book of Condolence for the community where you can share your thoughts and feelings about the Queen. Watch this space next week, when we’ve had time to set it up.
We have also been made aware of a Proclamation taking place on Sunday 11th September at 2.30pm – 2.45pm on the Town Hall Steps, Luton LU1 2BQ. This will involve a short reading and the opportunity for the community to come together and reflect, at this time of national mourning.
Thank you for your continuing support.
