What books would you have in your own personal list of books to read before you leave primary school?
I wish that Amari and the Night Brothers was on there.
What do you like about that book and why do you think others should read it?
I’m pleased to see The Fib and The Turbulent Term of Tyke Tiler are included in the 100 books. I’ve loved reading them and loved reading them to classes in the past.
The Goalkeeper’s Revenge by Bill Naughton and any of Paul Jennings’s Uncanny / Unreal / Unbelievable etc series of short stories are brilliant for readers who find it difficult to concentrate on long novels.
Another of favourite of mine as a child was Tom’s Midnight Garden by Philippa Pearce.
Peter Dickinson’s The Changes Trilogy series was a really scary BBC children’s drama serial from the books The Weathermonger, Heartsease and The Devil’s Children.
Finally, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn was one I enjoyed reading at my own primary school.
No really finally … Marianne Dreams by Catherine Storr would be one of my top 100.
