This half term, a new group of Year 5 pupils have begun an exciting project in partnership with our local community bookshop, Brown Books.
Over the coming weeks, the children will work together to plan and deliver a special event for all of our Year 3 classes, designed to celebrate a love of reading, creativity and the wonderful independent bookshop right on our doorstep.
In their first session, the children met Abi, a local artist who is working with community groups across Luton thanks to funding from the Luton Arts Evolution Fund. Abi introduced the children to a fascinating project exploring the chalk that our town is built on, using it as inspiration and material for creating local art.
After learning about the idea behind the project, the children had the unique opportunity to create some of their own artwork on a giant travelling rock that Abi has been cycling from location to location across the town, spreading her creative message.
It was a fantastic start to the project, and the children are already full of ideas for the event they will deliver for our Year 3 pupils after Easter.
Watch this space to see what they come up with next!
