You can find out whether you are eligible for Benefits-Related Free School Meals. Some parents of children in Years R, 1 and 2 may not have investigated this as their children automatically receive Universal Infant Free School Meals.
A year of school meals costs £437 per child in Year 3, 4, 5 and 6. Why not find out if you qualify for Benefit-Related Free School Meals and avoid that cost?
You can do this online by clicking the button on the left to visit the Luton Borough Council website.
If you are successful in your application, once we receive confirmation, we will add you to our list of families receiving support. More than 160 families have received Free School Meals vouchers to the value of £15 per child per week during the school closure period. Following the successful campaign, initiated by the Premier League footballer Marcus Rashford, the government provided funds for families to continue receiving vouchers through the six-week summer holiday, amounting to £90 per child.
Did you know?
Even if your child receives Universal Infant Free School Meals while they are in Foundation Stage, Year 1 and Year 2, you can still apply for Benefits-Related Free School Meals. While it may not make any difference to you and your family directly, our school receives additional funding, called the Pupil Premium, for every child who is eligible for free school meals. This enables us to enhance our provision for those pupils and the wider school population.
Last year, more than 25% of our pupils qualified for Pupil Premium funding added more than £300,000 to our overall school budget.
