On Friday 29th April, we are launching a huge fundraising challenge that our staff will be taking on to raise funds for Young Lives vs Cancer — a charity that not only supports many families around the UK, but also families right here at St Matthew’s.
The aim of our launch day is to raise awareness of what we are doing, as well as get the ball rolling on our fundraising.
In order to make this challenge the success we know it can be, we want to get as many people from our community involved as possible. Over the coming weeks and months we will release more information on how you can get involved too.
Our fundraising will continue between now and October, where we will hold a few mini events as we work towards our target of £20,000 for Young Lives vs Cancer!
On Friday 29th of April, your child can come to school in non-uniform. For every 50p donation your child brings in they will receive ONE entry into our prize draw so if your child brings in £2, they will receive FOUR entries into the prize draw. We have SEVEN brand new scooters up for grabs meaning we will have one winner per year group!
There is also a way you can boost your raffle entries: by walking, scooting or cycling to school on Friday 29th of April, we will double your raffle entries. So if you bring in a £1 donation, instead of just two entries, you will have FOUR chances of winning a scooter!
During the day the children will learn about our challenge and how we hope every child and family will get involved throughout the event.
To round off the day we will have a BAKE SALE. There will be tables set up around the school from 3pm where you can purchase your cakes. All cakes will be cash only and prices will range between 20p and £10 (children in Year 5 and 6 can bring their money in to school in the morning for the bake sale if they are normally afternoon walkers).
To support our bake sale, we would like you to donate cakes for sale — either home-made or shop-bought. Bring in your cake donation on Thursday 28th April ready for the cake sale the following day. Please remember we are a nut free school.
As always we really appreciate the support of our families and look forward to sharing more news of this huge venture and how you can get involved as we get closer to the event.
