Supporting the Foodbank’s Harvest Collection

Harvest Time Appeal for Luton Foodbank

As we enter harvest season, a time for gathering and sharing, it’s important to remember those in our community who may not have enough to eat themselves, let alone share with others. Many families in Luton struggle to put food on their own table, and this is where we can make a difference.

Luton Foodbank is appealing for your support this harvest time. Here at St Matthew’s, we will be collecting donations on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, 14th, 15th, and 16th October to help re-fill their shelves and provide for those in need. Volunteers from the Luton Foodbank have already visited us to speak to the children in their assemblies to encourage them to persuade their parents to join in and donate.

Suggested items for donation:

  • Tinned foods (soup, meat, fruit, tomatoes)
  • Long-life milk
  • Tea and coffee
  • Sugar
  • Dried pasta and rice
  • Biscuits
  • Breakfast cereals

Your generosity can help ensure that everyone in our community has access to the food they need. Let’s come together to support our neighbours during this season of giving.

Children can bring any donated items into their class and give them to their class teacher. Then our Year 6 pupils will visit each class to gather up all the donations ready for collection by our Foodbank friends.

Thank you!
