Year 5 & Year 3 Origami Project

Each half term, a different Year 5 group gets to plan an activity for children at school or people in the local community. Their challenge is to help more people visit the shop and enjoy reading.

This group chose origami — the art of folding paper into shapes. They used pages from old books that would otherwise have been thrown away, giving the paper a new life!

First, the Year 5 children visited Brown Books, where volunteers taught them how to make the shapes. Then they taught Year 3 how to make their own.

Each Year 3 class made a different shape. Their creations are now decorating the bookshop for autumn!

Last week, Year 5 showed the Year 3 classes around Brown Books. The children spotted their paper creations and listened to a story before heading back to school.

Why not visit Brown Books during half term? There are books for all ages and lots of fun activities to try!
