Warn and Inform Letter

Dear Parents and Carers,

We have had an increasing number of positive pupil and staff Covid cases over the weekend, Monday and today. We have contacted Public Health and they have advised that we should continue to follow our current practice; however in the two classes where an outbreak has been identified extra precautions must be put in place.

The extra precautions for these classes will include:

  • Limiting the mixing of these class bubbles with others. This means the classes with outbreaks will not be able to attend any mixed class extracurricular clubs, before or after school
  • voluntary daily testing for two weeks for all staff and pupils in these bubbles

Please remember, do not send your children into school if they complain about feeling unwell. If they have any of the Covid symptoms or a headache, feel sick or have been sick (because these are symptoms some of our cases started with) please test them using a rapid lateral flow test or get a PCR test done. If either test is negative then they can come to school when well enough. This is to safeguard everyone and to prevent further spread of cases.

Our priority will always be to keep all classes open while it is safe and practical to do so. We are alerting you to this ever-changing situation so you are aware there may be a time when this may not be possible.

What to do if your child develops symptoms of COVID 19

If your child develops symptoms of COVID-19, you should keep them at home and do a lateral flow or arrange a PCR test.  Our confirmed cases started with a headache or vomiting but the most common symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) are recent onset of:

  • new continuous cough and/or
  • high temperature and/or
  • a loss of, or change in, normal sense of taste or smell (anosmia)
  • Many of our recent cases have also included headaches, cold type symptoms and stomach aches

If your child does develop symptoms, you can seek advice from NHS 111 at https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/check-if-you-have-coronavirus-symptoms/ or by phoning 111.

Should you have any questions or queries please don’t hesitate to contact us. Thank you to all of you who have already supported us with the additional measures we have had to put in for some classes. By working together in this way we stand the best chance of keeping school open for all your children.

Yours sincerely,

Ms J Thomas and Ms D Thompson
