SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PRIORITIES
In order to build on our successes from the April 2021 Section 8 Monitoring Visit, we are continuing to take effective action in order to become a ‘good’ school.
In relation to the Ofsted key judgements, we have identified the following strategic priorities for 2021 – 2022:
THE QUALITY OF EDUCATION
1
Ensure that all children (regardless of starting point) gain phonic knowledge and have increased opportunities to rehearse their reading skills in order to support their learning across the curriculum
2
Ensure that leaders’ plans to strengthen the curriculum for phonics are implemented effectively so that pupils quickly develop the skills they need to become fluent and confident readers
3
Implement maths curriculum consistently to accelerate pupil progress and attainment in mathematics across the school
4
Revisit our curriculum intent statement and ensure its effective implementation across the curriculum
5
Assessment — Form, Function and Frequency
6
Implement effective recovery and catch-up strategies to close gaps in basic skills in reading and mathematics that have widened post-Covid pandemic
BEHAVIOUR AND ATTITUDES
7
Improve whole school attendance to 97% or higher (with a specific focus on SEND, vulnerable/disadvantaged, low attainers and PP pupils, taking into account specific exceptions)
PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
8
Further develop RSHE and PSHE curriculum provision to promote extensive personal development of pupils
LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT
9
Meet all of the Ofsted criteria for good leadership and management securely and consistently
EARLY YEARS EDUCATION
10
Implement the new EYFS framework effectively to ensure that it has a strong impact on what pupils know, can remember and do
