Welcome to our New Starters page. Here you will find vital information, important dates and details about school dinners and uniform. Please take the time to read all of the information below.


By now you should have received a letter from Luton Borough Council confirming that your child has secured a place here at St Matthew’s Primary School to start in September 2018.

As your child begins an exciting new stage of their life with us, we would like to share some information with you.

Our Reception Year is made up of 4 classes;

Willow – Hedgehog – Poppy – Duckling

The year group leader is Mrs Emma Matthews.


We invite you and your child to attend Stay and Play sessions so that you both become familiar with our school. These sessions will be held as follows;

Poppy and Hedgehog
Monday 9th July, 10-11am
&
Wednesday 11th July, 10-11am

Willow and Duckling
Tuesday 10th July, 10-11am
&
Thursday 12th July, 10-11am

New Intake Meetings will take place;

Willow and Poppy
Tuesday 26th June, 4pm and 6pm

Duckling and Hedgehog
Wednesday 27th June, 4pm and 6pm


Flying Start has been set up to ensure families feel supported in helping their child prepare for the transition from a childcare setting to their new school. This is a big step for all involved and this website provides lovely resources and ideas to support parents in getting their children ready. You can find this information in the Transition Area.

Home visits will take place from Wednesday 5th September.

Children will then start school part-time only on 10th September, then full-time from Monday 17th September.

Part time;

2 days morning or afternoon, then 3 days morning or afternoon plus lunch

Full time; Once your child starts full-time on Monday 17th September timings will be as follows;

8.45 – 3.20


School Dinners

In Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 all children receive a free school dinner; this is due to the Universal Free School Meal initiative by the Government. There is no packed lunch option until Year 3.

Uniform

Boys must wear grey trousers, white polo shirt or white shirt and maroon jumper.

Girls must wear grey skirt or trousers, white polo shirt or white blouse and maroon cardigan or jumper.

All school branded uniform can be purchased from the school office.

Shoes must be black, no trainers or sandals.

No patterns or lines in hair and no earrings.
