First day back … after a 23-week gap since most of our pupils were last in school. No one thought it would last quite so long when the government first announced the national school closures.
It was tremendous to see our pupils as they arrived at school this morning. Drop-offs and pick-ups have to be different for the time being as we continue to follow the guidelines published by the government and the advice we receive from Luton Borough Council.
Thank you to all parents who did the first drop-off and pick-up today for setting the best example of social distancing to all of the children.
Now you know where and when your children will be entering and exiting the school site, the procedure can only get smoother day by day. One thing that might help, particularly with the older children, is for as many parents as possible to consider allowing their Year 5 or Year 6 children to be a “Walker” – leaving unaccompanied without having to wait for an adult to collect them. We realise this is not always possible for every child but please consider this for your child. Even if they just leave their classroom independently and meet their adult waiting for a younger brother or sister at another gate, this will help ease congestion around the gates and enable families to get away more speedily.
A HOME-TIME ARRANGEMENTS form can be downloaded here and printed to return to your child’s class teacher.
