When the government announced on Wednesday 18 March that all schools throughout the country were to be closed to try to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus, there can have been very few people who could foresee that we would reach the summer holidays without schools re-opening to all pupils.
Now we are at that point and there must be many homes around the country, in Luton, within the High Town community, where parents and carers have breathed a sigh of relief that, all being well, they no longer have to provide home schooling for their children.
We know that many families have gone through a difficult time, with some families losing cherished family members, and our thoughts and prayers are with you as you come to terms with your loss.
But we also know that families have valued the time they have had together with their children and some of you have been able to make lasting positive memories that you will look back on with fondness in the years to come.
Now the six-week summer holiday is here — time to hopefully relax and recuperate, work-time permitting. Whatever your plans are for the next few weeks, we hope that everyone has an enjoyable time with family and friends, albeit within the restrictions as they still stand.
