Into Film Festival

COMING SOON TO A CINEMA NEAR YOU!

For a number of years, we have been taking children to the cinema as part of the Into Film Festival, which this year runs from 7th – 23rd November. The Into Film Festival is a free, annual, nationwide celebration of film & education for 5-19 year olds

All children in Years 1 to 6 will visit Cineworld in the Galaxy Centre to watch films that have been specially chosen for the festival.

Tuesday 13th November
SHERLOCK GNOMES
This sequel to ‘Gnomeo & Juliet’ follows the garden gnomes as they move to London. However, as soon as they arrive at their new home their fellow garden ornaments suddenly disappear. Fearing their family and friends are in danger, they call on the help of the famous detective Sherlock Gnomes. (U)

Wednesday 7th November
FERDINAND
Ferdinand, although very large, is a not your average Spanish bull. Usually bred to fight, Ferdinand escapes this life as a youngster to be adopted by a girl who lives on a flower farm and grows up preferring to smell flowers than battle. (U)

Thursday 8th November
COCO
Despite his family’s longstanding ban on music and the affection he holds for them, 12-year-old Miguel is desperate to play and can’t help but go against their wishes. Aspiring to be like his idol, the celebrated Ernesto de la Cruz, Miguel attempts to “borrow” the deceased star’s guitar to play in a village talent contest. (PG)

Wednesday 14th November
A WRINKLE IN TIME
Meg is a mixed-race 13-year-old who is bullied by her peers at school but adored by her impressionable adopted younger brother Charles Wallace, and admired by classmate Calvin. However, what Meg most wants is for the return of her father. A renowned scientist – along with their mother – his studies of Astrophysics led to his mysterious disappearance four years prior. One day, Charles Wallace introduces Meg to three strange beings from across the cosmos: Mrs. Who, Mrs. Which and Mrs. Whatsit. The shapeshifters know much about the universe, including the whereabouts of the kids’ father, propelling Meg, Calvin and Charles Wallace on an incredible adventure across time and space to rescue him. (PG)

Tuesday 20th November
THE GREATEST SHOWMAN
When 19th century aspiring entrepreneur P.T. Barnum loses his job after the company’s bankruptcy, he decides to finally try to fulfil his dreams and a promise he gave to his family by reinventing himself as ‘The Greatest Showman’. This involves putting together a circus the likes of which had never been seen before. (PG)
YEAR 6
Friday 9th November
GOOSEBUMPS 2: HAUNTED HALLOWEEN
The spooky mind of author R.L. Stine receives the film treatment once again, in this ghostly comedy. Slappy is an evil ventriloquist’s dummy who is hell-bent on starting the Halloween apocalypse with a series of other monsters. Three young friends stumble upon his plan as they are out exploring Stine’s abandoned house one day, and have to team up to stop the dastardly villain before he ruins Halloween for good. (PG)
