Sports Week 2018

Forget the World Cup … the real sports extravaganza is right here at St Matthew’s in High Town.

It’s time for our annual SPORTS WEEK!

We have lots of amazing activities planned for everyone with fantastic experts joining us to lead some of the events.

Some will take place at school – both indoors and outdoors. Some will take place at the High Town Sports Centre. Some will take place at People’s Park.

All children can wear sports clothes all week. Please ensure that they have appropriate footwear for taking part in sports and that they are dressed appropriately for the hot weather, including wearing sun cream and a sun hat and T-shirts which cover the shoulders, as well as bringing in a refillable water bottle.

Here are the details of our Sports Day events. Parents, carers and friends are welcome to come along and watch our Sports Day events.

On Thursday 28 June, all children will be taking part in our RACE FOR LIFE, running a course around the school grounds, completing as many laps as possible in 30 minutes.

Unfortunately, for safeguarding reasons, we are unable to invite parents, carers and friends to this event, but you can still support the children in helping us to raise as much money as possible for CANCER RESEARCH UK by donating on our fundraising page at:

We will also have collection buckets at the school gates on Thursday for you to donate any spare change you might have. Many thanks in anticipation for your support!

Please note that there will be no morning or afternoon sports clubs this week.
