Next Friday 6th October we will be having a whole school non-uniform day. We will be supporting the Luton & Dunstable Hospital’s Children’s Oncology Ward Appeal. They are raising money to enable them to transform the treatment rooms where all of the young patients with leukemia and cancer are cared for.
The three wards that make up the Children’s Oncology Department are called Hedgehog, Rabbit and Squirrel Ward … just like three of our classes in Foundation and Key Stage 1. Each year around 10,000 babies, children and teenagers are treated there.
The money raised will help to create two rooms for children who have to be away from the main wards to prevent infections. The plan is for the rooms to be inviting and colourful with plenty of things for the children to do while they are being looked after.
By asking for a minimum donation of £1 per child, plus staff donations, we could hopefully raise close to £1000 to send to the Luton & Dunstable Hospital.
