The Rugby World Cup comes to St Matthew’s!

rugbyworldcupWe are sure you are aware that England is hosting the Rugby World Cup which begins this month, and we would like our school and community to get involved in the spirit of the competition.

On Friday 18th September, St Matthew’s will be holding a Rugby World Cup Day, each class will be adopting a country from the Rugby World Cup to support as their own, there will then be a whole school competition to see which class can decorate their class and wear their countries colours the best, with the winners winning a trip to Wardown Park for a fun afternoon of games. A suggested donation of £1 for the non-uniform day will be donated to the Rugby for Heroes charity.

To end off the day in style and really welcome the Rugby World Cup to England we will be showing the opening game of the competition between England and Fiji on a big screen on our school field! Tickets cost £2 per person and can be purchased from the school office. The game kicks off at 8pm and the gates will open from 7:30pm, bring your own chairs, blankets and picnics to enjoy the game with your friends and family under the stars. With each ticket you will receive an ice cream at no extra cost. The school have also teamed up with local sandwich shop ‘Oscars’ to put on a BBQ for you to purchase your burgers and hot dogs from. Since this is a family event we cannot allow alcohol to be brought onto the school site. Tickets for this event will be sold on a first come, first serve basis so get in quick!

We look forward to seeing lots of you on the 18th September for the opening game!
