FAMILY CENTRE

St Matthew’s is fortunate to have a family worker in The Beehive Language and Family Centre (BLCF). The BLCF is located on Hightown Road and is opposite Snowdrop and Rabbit classes.

The family worker arranges courses and sessions for parents. At the moment, we offer ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) and pre-school sessions like Stay & Play and Rhyme Time.

If you need further information about what is happening in the Family Centre, contact Shaheen Hanif, St Matthew’s Family Worker, on 01582 723970. Watch out for what’s on via the website or Parentmail.

If you have an individual concern about your child’s learning, a parenting issue or anything else, Shaheen can provide advice. Please contact her to make an appointment.

  5. Want to know more about stay and play activity
As i am very new here so don’t have an exact idea
How to connect & whom to connect to join this.

    1. Either come in or phone the school during school hours and ask for Mrs Hanif who is our family worker. She will have all the information you need.

  6. I did not know where to turn and had tried to get help from various places including citizen advice about my families housing needs. Things had got really bad and it was affecting my health and my children. I was told to speak to one of the family workers by my daughters teacher. The family worker I spoke to made a few calls on my behalf and was able to negotiate a discretionary payment to help with my rent. She also wrote a letter for me to take to housing. Without the help my family would have had to move home and my children possibly attend a different school. I can not say how grateful I am for the support. The family workers made me feel at ease and I felt a massive relief that I was being listened to and understood. Thank you again.
